Address: Commercial str., 66
Year of contruction: 1912
On the visor above the front door of this house on the Commercial str., 66 the letters “I” and “D” are clearly guessed, as well as, possibly, “A”, and the year – “1912”. Despite the fact that it has not yet been possible to decipher the meaning of the letters, the building is associated with the merchant Andreicho Mikhnev (popularly – Andreichik), a well-known philanthropist and entrepreneur at the beginning of the last century, owner of a restaurant located here, which was considered as a big one in the city by the standards of the time. There were 2 halls in it – only drinks were served in the left hall, drinks and appetizers were available in the right one.
With the advent of Soviet power the restaurant became the property of the state and was called “Izmail”. However, it closed with the opening of a more modern “Blue Danube” restaurant in the city center.
It is assumed that the family estate of Mikhnev was in the building of the current department of housing and communal services, where you can see the letters “A” and “M” suitable for his name and surname on the visor.
Until the USSR imploded, the canteen #14 of the trust of canteens and restaurants worked here. Their staff remembered about the history of the house and placed a sign on which was written “Old Andreychik. Welcome!”.
In our time, home appliances repair workshop and a furniture store placed here.
